“Meh, It’s All Subjective”

There are so many masterful techniques in our society used to stop a conversation, but my favorite is easily any weaponization of the term “Subjective”. Always to suggest the insurmountability of a perceived contradiction or impasse, its use is so widespread that, I’ll be honest, I lose track of what it’s even supposed to mean.

A groundwork for utilizing “subjectivity” can also be difficult to narrow down when every discipline seems to approach it a little differently, to say nothing of our colloquial folk-use of the term to excuse radically incommensurate notions of the world.

I was thrilled to be able to discuss some of this irritation with Quinn Gibson on the latest episode of Things That Seemed Important At The Time, even though we, undoubtedly, only began to scratch the surface. Fasten your long-term-seatbelts for a guaranteed visitation in the next 12-36 months!
